CrypToken M2048

The CrypToken® M2048 MULTOS allows to add Two-Factor Authentication into a wide area of security solutions. Existing applications written for MULTOS smart cards can be loaded and run directly on the CrypToken.
The shortest USB-Token in the market offers a flexible, practical and robuste alternative to smart card systems in the fields of access control, eBusiness and eCommerce.

How Does MULTOS Achieve a High Security Standard?

The MULTOS-certification is a very tough process for smart card manufacturers. The chip has to undergo and pass rigorous testing and quality control in order to provide compatibility, security and block any manipulation.

MULTOS (multi-application smart card operating system) can manage multiple applications stored in one smart card. The applications are working parallel and isolated from each other on a virtual machine - independent from the smart card hardware. The manufacturers of the smart cards are Infineon, Hitachi and Samsung. The virtual machine ensures that the MULTOS applications can be used on all these chips.

A system of firewalls guarantees that only applications with a valid authentication have access to the stored data. Certificates ensure the secure connection between smart card and application. No application can be manipulated with the code of another application.

Updates or other options, like new algorithms or security functions, can be added dynamically with the PKI interfaces of the MULTOS architecture. Every modification of the smart card requires an appropriate certificate. This strategy guarantees data integrity, authenticity and confidentiality, and provides maximum security for the card holder and for the card issuer.

MULTOS complies with the industrial standards ISO 7816 and EMV2000.
